Andy Goldsworthy

I'm hoping for one of Andy Goldsworthy's books this Christmas. Goldsworthy is an artist who makes site specific sculptures using natural elements. Sticks weave their way into cobwebs to defy gravity while icicles are pieced together in a beautiful death-trap. Photography is key to his work since many of them are ephemeral; it's part of the beauty of working with natural elements and part of the experience of each project. When we see a capture of his work we see it at it's height, when it is the most powerful and we cognizant of witnessing something that can't last or has already fallen into decay. It's really wonderful work and I hope to visit at least one of his installations one day.
