This evening I'll say goodbye to my temporary students, adopted siblings, and playmates as they fly back to Kabul and I drive home. It's been an exhausting but very fun couple of weeks. It was rather surreal to turn down opportunities in New York or my usual fashion week schedule (especially studio visits with designers like Family Affairs or seeing Rachel Antonoff and Lauren Moffatt's creative presentations), but at this moment I don't regret anything. I hope there will be more fashion weeks and I'm fairly certain I won't be able to chaperon these children again. I wore this outfit on the first day of my journey; the brief roadtrip from Pennsylvania to Washington DC to begin duties. The color of this dress is my absolute favorite although I opted for longer skirts on all the other days of my duties. Short skirts are a nuisance when sitting on the ground with kids! Anyway, more posts from my adventures lately should be coming shortly (as soon as I recover)--it will definitely be a different perspective from my usual abandoned locations as we visit DC, New York, and Boston.
