Iceland Day Five

The Blue Lagoon was number one on my list of places to visit in Iceland. It just always looked so magical in pictures and some of my favorite experiences on past trips internationally were in bath houses--America doesn't have a great bath house culture, but it really is so relaxing and some are incredibly beautiful. For me, the Blue Lagoon lived up to the hype. We saved it for our last full day in Iceland and it was an incredibly relaxing way to end our trip that was mostly spent driving all over the island. The water is incredibly striking in person and wonderfully warm--I overhead a man joking to his friends that my hair is what happens when you stay in the water too long. Hardly! I was actually afraid of the water leaching out of my color because there are many warnings about the water being harsh on hair, so even though I smeared the "healing" clay all over my face, I kept my head above water the whole time. If you go I highly recommend visiting it early in the morning before the crowds hit and indulging in a blue raspberry slushie--it's the perfect balance to the warm water and bright sun.
